Planting a NIYC bed

Before we plant

Site preparation is when we begin making changes to the landscaping at your home. Our method is solarizing with clean cardboard and locally sourced mulch.

Install

For most projects, we will recommend using plug (2"x5") or small 4" potted plants. This allows dense planting with lower costs than larger plants. The native plants we will select for your project are likely to grow quickly and fill in.

Watch and Learn

Once the plants are in and mulched, we recommend daily watering for two weeks. If you can, water by hand. It wastes less and lets you connect with the plants and monitor how they are doing. We are always happy to answer questions and are also available to assist with maintenance.

Our Services

On-site consult

We come to your home and discuss the state of landscaping including current needs and future possibilities.
Half of consult fee can be applied to future service.

Design proposal

A detailed design proposal including site preparation plan, schedule, and plant list.
Half of proposal fee can be applied to install.

Maintenance service

NIYC can help you maintain existing beds or prep new ones for planting. Hourly service includes weeding, mulching, pruning, or however you choose to direct our labor. Reduced rate for more than three hours. Additional materials fee may apply.
$50/hour

Mowing and Blowing

All electric mowing, edging and blowing service. We recommend service twice per month in spring and summer. Additional charge for large lots.
