Native Ideas Yard Care, LLC was founded by Lynn Porfirio in the summer of 2023. It was operated as a side hustle for the first three years but mid-2026 I decided to leave my previous career and focus on growing this business.

I love working with people to make their home and business spaces more enjoyable and accessible. 

I have achieved Native Plant Landscaping Design and Certification through Native Plant Society of Texas and American Horticultural Society.

The real learning is in the doing and I have opportunities to create designs at a half dozen sites including Exploration Green pollinator garden in phase 3A which was born in Fall 2024. Several new installs are coming Fall 2026! 

Most of my long term experience is within my own backyard where I have been working with mad scientist intent since 2019 when I studied Permaculture Principals with Urban Harvest Houston. Learning about Permaculture Principals just before and through the Covid pandemic shifted my world view. 

NIYC is proudly based in Friendswood, TX and serving the greater Houston area including, but not limited to Harris, Galveston, and Brazoria counties.
